The Bambino Plus, despite its cute name is a serious machine. It's packed with features, making it a great option for those looking to upgrade from the standard Breville espresso machines or need an automated alternative to a manual.
It comes with an PID controller that performs the hard work of controlling temperature and pressure so that it's ready to drink at the time you press the button. It also uses a technology called Thermo Jet, which allows it to warm up in just 3 seconds, so you can make your espresso quicker than other espresso machines at home (which require between 10 and 30 minutes to warm up).
This machine was built with simplicity in mind, which is why there's only one button that can control everything. You can select a single shot or a double shot, and determine the brewing time, something that you cannot do with other espresso machines at this price point. The brushed stainless finish gives it a high-end appearance, and its compact dimensions are ideal for those with limited counter space or a smaller kitchen.
The Bambino Plus also comes with all the equipment you require to get started brewing, such as an tamper made of metal measuring 54 millimeters and the dose trimmer tool. It's the only machine in this category that does this, and it demonstrates that Breville is committed to making their products as reliable as they can. In our metrics for brewing, the Stilosa scored between average and below average for its quality of brewing and control. This was due to the small size of the filter baskets as well as its lack of temperature control, both of which limit your ability to customize the extraction process. We liked the fact that this unit heats up quickly and that the spout is able to be adjusted to an ideal height.
The model also comes with a water reservoir that can hold up to 34 ounces. It also has an integrated indicator for level that lets you know when to refill. It's also movable, which is helpful when you need to clean the tank, or when there's no sink in the vicinity. Another feature new to this model is a movable drip tray that lets you hold taller cups under the spout.
In our steaming metrics, the Stilosa also fell short. This was due to its limited control of the steam temperature and the lack of pre-infusion options. Both of these are standard features in machines that cost much more. Despite these shortcomings we were pleased to see its ease of maintain and comes with a 1 year warranty. The De'Longhi Stilosa is a great option for a home coffee bar. It's more user-friendly than other models we've tested and will save money on cafe drinks.
3. Breville Barista Express Impress
The Breville Barista Express Impress (that's a mouthful I bet!) is a machine specifically designed for people who are interested in espresso. This single boiler, pump-driven machine is designed to make it easy for anyone to pull a decent shot of espresso without sacrificing flavor or consistency.

The thermocoil heating feature built-in makes sure that your espresso is ready in less than 30 seconds which is much faster than the half-hour that the majority of traditional single boiler machines require to get to temperature.
The "impressive" dosing-andamping system that is integrated with the tamper dials in the right amount of ground coffee for each shot. This system makes use of an integrated sensor to measure the depth of the basket and adjusts the amount of ground coffee that is dispensed. If you aren't sure that you can control the grind size and temperature of the water manually the machine has presets that can help.
The Barista Express Impress also comes with the famous single hole steam wand which can create impressive latte artwork. It's the same wand you will find in Breville's more sophisticated, premium Barista Express models, and it's an absolute delight.
I'm not one who advocates for coffee shortcuts, fully automatic machines, or even pods, but the Impress does exactly what it's supposed to do without becoming difficult or removing the enjoyment of making a good shot of espresso. I'm glad to give it a thumbs-up for that!
4. Diletta Mio
The Diletta Mio makes a great choice for home baristas who focus on design, quality and ease of usage. Its sleek design, professional-grade components and constant performance make it a striking addition to your coffee bar. Beginners can also benefit from this machine as it allows them to learn about espresso you can try these out and steaming without having to think about programming or complexities.
The brew heater controlled by PID is one of its most striking features. It ensures rapid warm-up time and stable temperature water. This is crucial, particularly for espresso, as even minor changes in water temperature can impact the taste and quality.
The separate steaming thermoblock of the Diletta is another thing that stands out. It allows you to steam milk and make espresso at the simultaneously. It can also be easily programmed to do an additional cleaning once or twice a year. It will also remind you to change the filter every 80 drinks.
