In our metrics for brewing The Stilosa scored between average and below average for its brew quality and control. This was due to the tiny filter baskets and the absence of a temperature control. Both of these factors restrict your ability to adjust the extraction. However, we did like the fact that it's not a long time for the machine to warm up and that it offers a nice amount of adjustability on the spout's height.
The unit also has an easy-to-fill reservoir that can hold up to 34 ounces. It comes with a built in level indicator to let you know when it's time to refill. It's also removable and can be used if you want to clean the tank, or in the event that you don't have a sink close by. This model also has an adjustable drip pan that allows you to use taller cup sizes underneath the spout.
Stilosa was also a disappointment when it came to our steaming metrics. This was due to its limited control of the temperature of the steam and the absence of pre-infusion options. Both of these are standard features in machines that cost much more. Despite its shortcomings we liked that it is easy to maintain and comes with a 1 year warranty. In terms of price and performance the De'Longhi Stilosa makes a great addition to any coffee bar. It's a bit easier to use than other models we've tested and will save you money over the cost of cafe drinks.
3. Breville Barista Express Impress
The Breville Barista Express Impress (that's quite a mouthful do you not think?) is a machine made specifically for espresso-curious beginners.
